Zia Uddyan (Chandrima Uddyan)

Zia Uddyan or Chandrima Uddyan is one of the finest park and resting center for Dhaka City Dwellers. Zia Uddyan is located just opposite back to the Parliament House of Bangladesh, and the opposite western Corner of Bangladesh Military Museum and Bangabandhu Novo Theatre. One of the major and great leaders of Bangladesh, Late President Ziaur Rahman was buried there. You can see the Graveyard of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman while visiting this place. Many people also have known this place as “Chandrima Uddyan (crescent lake)”. The grave chamber of Ziaur Rahman is a nice place. It is well decorated. Another excellent seeing sight is the lake of Zia Uddyan or Chandrima Uddyan.

Though many visitors visit this place daily, the lake is not contaminated. (Usually most visited places of Dhaka city is polluted by the visitors). The bridge of Zia Uddyan is a nice architecture of Dhaka City. Zia Uddyan Bridge is to be found very attractive at night when all the lights of the bridge are dazzling.

Huge Greenery of Zia Uddyan can attract the tourist most. There are thousand of big and small tree which enhance the beauty of the Zia Uddyan. Truly it is a Uddyan (Uddyan means Garden). A long lake of Zia Uddyan and the sitting facilities of it add the fuel to the attractiveness of the Zia Uddyan. Zia Uddyan is calm and sober place of Dhaka City. People of Dhaka city who love nature and want to take some rest in touch of nature must have to go there. Zia Uddyan would be a nice place for the nature lover as well as who seek a resting place and want to have a word with lovers/beloved, it is a perfect place indeed.

So you have to go Zia Uddyan to see the Graveyard of Late President Ziaur Rahman, the founder of BNP, one of the biggest political parties of Bangladesh. The enormous greens of Zia Uddyan surely magnetize you. When the gentle breeze blows, you feel will fill with joy and ecstasy. Delight and charm will fill your mind. There are many brick made bench are to be found in there.

You easily sit in there and speak with your friend, fiancée or relatives. But you should be careful about that it is a public place. Don’t do anything that is not suitable in our country. It’s our sole duty to make a classy environment. We shouldn’t do anything which can pollute our social upbringing. It’s a matter of sorrow that some rude people always try to impure the area of Zia Uddyan. Please be careful about them. It is restricted to stay Zia Uddyan over 9.00 PM. In every morning, a lot of people gather Zia Uddan for morning walk and physical exercise. An environment of freshness and merry making is created here at morning. Here you find many known and unknown plants. It’s also a great place for the botanist.
